SUMMARY:Graduate Explorations in Mapping & Spatial Analysis (GEMS)
DESCRIPTION:The UMass Amherst Libraries are kicking off a new\, low-stakes
presentation series to spotlight graduate research. Every 1st Monday of the
month\, the Graduate Explorations in Mapping & Spatial Analysis (GEMS)
meets from 12pm-1pm in the Science & Engineering Library\, bringing
together students from across campus to share how they use GIS to shape
their research. \n\nEach session will feature two short (~30 minute)\,
dynamic presentations from grad students who are using GIS or spatial
analysis in their research. All fields of study are welcome\, from
 environmental science to geography\, public health\, anthropology\,
engineering\, and more. Presenters are invited to share about methods\,
data sources\, analysis tools\, challenges they face\, or any other key
insights they’ve gotten through the research process. After the
presentation\, there will be time for Q&A\, open discussion\, and
networking.\n\nAre you a grad student using GIS in your graduate research?
Sign up to share your work with the GIS community on campus\, hone your
science communication skills\, and learn about new tools in a welcoming
environment!\n\nAre you interested in learning more about GIS applications
in research? Come join us to learn about cutting-edge research happening at
UMass and connect with other students and faculty!
