Meeting W. E. B. Du Bois in the Archives In-Person
Come hold history in your hands, and encounter W. E. B. Du Bois through his voluminous archive housed in UMass Amherst Libraries' Special Collections! Novices and Du Bois scholars alike enjoy learning about Du Bois (and his collaborators and family) through the primary sources created and saved by Du Bois himself during his active 95-year lifetime. This workshop highlights items and stories from across Du Bois’s life as an internationally significant scholar, writer, and activist engaged in numerous intersecting civil rights and liberation causes. Participants will engage with special collections materials, do primary source analysis, and learn how to access and use (physically and digitally) the Du Bois Papers.
