All our daytime events will be hybrid! Join us in person in the Morrill Science Center, Room 245 (UMass Amherst) or register here for the Zoom link. Mappy Hour will be held in-person at the Hangar Pub & Grill in Amherst.

11:00 – Keynote Address: Garrett Dash Nelson

We’re thrilled to welcome Garrett Dash Nelson, President & Head Curator of the Leventhal Map & Education Center at the Boston Public Library. Don’t miss his inspiring talk: "From Big Data to Big Evidence: Combining Ways of Knowing in Computer Cartography."

12:00 – FREE LUNCH!

1:00 – The First-Ever Faculty Slam!

For the first time, faculty across campus will battle it out in a fun, fast-paced “slam”. Each will share a map that changed how they see the world.

2:00 – Silly Map Competition

Enter your quirkiest or funniest map creation! [Submit your entry here] Need inspiration? [See examples from last year]

3:00 – Humanitarian OSM Mapathon 

Use your mapping skills to contribute to disaster relief efforts using the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) Task Manager.

4:00 – Esri's Young Professionals Network

Crash course about Esri’s Young Professionals Network (YPN), a community for connecting recent GIS grads or folks new to the field.

 5:30 – Mappy Hour and Map Trivia (Hangar Pub & Grill)

Join us for a low-key gathering to recap the day's events, meet new mappy friends, and compete in a riveting game of map trivia.
