CANCELLED: Understanding and Demystifying Generative AI

CANCELLED: Understanding and Demystifying Generative AI In-Person

This workshop has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Many have read about the potentials and pitfalls of using generative AI (genAI) for writing, researching, and learning.  From biased outputs to time-saving efficiencies, users' experiences with AI can vary.  GenAI is easy to access and use, but how many of us really understand how it works. Why do some queries produce more useful outputs than others? Which use cases fit the technology well, and which ones don't? How can we tell? This presentation/workshop will provide a general overview of what GenAI is, a n introduction to how it works, and an exploration of some of its functional  affordances and limitations.  Attendees will be invited to discuss what users need to know about this technology so that they can make informed decisions about using it.
