Introduction to Indigenous Data Sovereignty In-Person

Learn more about Indigenous data sovereignty (IDSov) in relation to Indigenous Peoples and their intellectual property, including tools to advocate for the voices of Native voices in academic libraries, archives, and museums. Attendees will be introduced to foundational concepts and theories of data sovereignty and learn about the multiple pathways for practitioners to support data sovereignty in their everyday work including but not limited to metadata, software development, and community engagement. Attendees will take-away a deeper understanding on the importance of relationship building between Indigenous Nations and academic institutions stewarding Indigenous data.
