Join the Libraries in celebrating the launch of former Du Bois Center fellow Lisa McLeod's new book, “Unveiling the Color Line: W. E. B. Du Bois on the Problem of Whiteness," by UMass Press.
Lisa McLeod’s areas of interest include philosophy of race, critical race and gender theory, carceral studies, and health care ethics. She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Stanford University and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. In the 1990s, she worked in the California State Public Defender's Office, doing direct appeals and habeas investigations, including death penalty appeals. In 2018 she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the W. E. B. Du Bois Center at UMass Amherst. She is now a Visiting Lecturer in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Northeastern; previously, she was a professor of philosophy at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
