Learn the Basics of GIS

Learn the Basics of GIS Online

New to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and not sure where to start? You’re in luck! This workshop covers the basics of GIS, including types of geospatial data, coordinate systems, and how to change symbology to visualize data in different ways. A live demonstration of the free and open-source mapping software, QGIS, will give attendees a chance to see the platform in action and ask questions in real time. Data used in the demo will be made available so that participants can practice using QGIS on their own after the workshop. Participants should install QGIS on their computer before the workshop if they would like to follow along with the demo.

This workshop will be recorded.
