Video Essays 101

Video Essays 101 In-Person

Video essays are a format used to express oneself in video format. It is an essay presented in the format of a video recording or short film rather than a conventional piece of writing. A video essay allows a creator to directly quote from film, video games, music, or other digital mediums, which is impossible with traditional writing. In this workshop we will cover the best practices for assembling a video essay. We will explore editing software, recording voice-over, completing short sequences and other techniques that can be used in a video essay.
