Libraries' Page to Screen - Pitch the Page Night In-Person
What should we read in the Spring?
We want to hear what you're excited about! If there's a title you'd like to do for the Spring semester, tell the group about it tonight! Feel free to prepare slides or other visual aids. We'll have a presenter computer available that can take a USB drive or login to your Google accounts to access prepared materials.
We will do ranked choice voting by Google Form. The form will be shared after the meeting. Feel free to research the titles to find your favorites! From movie trailers to reviews on Goodreads, there's a lot of good info available to help you choose. Please vote by Monday, December 2. Spring semester picks announced at the December 3 meeting and by email list by the end of the semester.
If you can't make it in person, email Melanie Radik and Jess LaJoie with book title and authors, movie or series info, and a few words on why it caught your interest and we'll present it to the group!
Some things to consider:
-
How long is the book?
-
300-450 pages seems to be the sweet spot for a 3 or 4 week read.
-
The door is open to longer works, collections of short stories, whatever you think would work! Scheduling this far ahead means we have flexability.
-
-
How long is the movie/film option?
-
2h 20 min is about the limit in a single viewing
-
We can split the viewing into multiple weeks.
-
We will limit viewing meetings for episodic works to fit more than one title in the semester.
-
-
How popular is it? Is there a high chance that everyone has already watched and/or read it?
-
Pitch what speaks to you!
-
If many of us have already discussed it thoroughly with friends, it might get less interest.
-
Or, we might be excited to experience it again with new people and new perspectives!
