W. E. B. Du Bois Poetry Slam Invitational

W. E. B. Du Bois Poetry Slam Invitational In-Person

Register to attend here.

This invitational poetry slam is a celebration of Black poetry, Black History Month, and the birthday of W. E. B. Du Bois (February, 23rd 1868). A poetry slam is a competitive event where spoken word artists perform poems in front of a live audience and are judged by 5 audience members using scores that range on the scale of 1-10. This program centers Black creative expression for community members across UMass and beyond. This is a space where marginalized voices are uplifted and student experiences will be legitimized. Award-winning spoken word artist Jahman Hill will be the emcee and featured poet of the evening, there will be Du Bois Center merchandise available for all who attend, and refreshments will be served. Doors open at 5:30.
