Building Inclusive Course Materials with Open Educational Practices In-Person
Open Educational Resources (OER) and the use of Open Educational Practices (OEP) have gained traction because of their ability to save students money on their course materials. But there are major benefits beyond cost savings, including the creation of course materials with a JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) lens. In this workshop, we will review the practices involved in making course materials openly accessible, built with universal design, and reflective of the diverse communities we serve. Attendees will receive an introduction to how open education contributes to creating equitable and inclusive course materials (including real world examples), and what library tools are available to help you make your course materials more inclusive.
