Learn iNaturalist for Nature Appreciation and Citizen Science - IN-PERSON

Learn iNaturalist for Nature Appreciation and Citizen Science - IN-PERSON In-Person

The iNaturalist app is a free tool for engaging with the nature that is all around us. The app records the date, time, and location you snapped a pic of the plant, animal, fungi, etc. that caught your attention. It also asks you to ID your organism, as close to the species level as you can. If you don't know what you're looking at though, don't worry - the community of users works together to identify species. iNaturalist is one of many apps that lets anyone participate in an international Community and Citizen Science effort to track and map the wildlife that exists everywhere, even in the most urban environments.

This workshop begins in the classroom. We'll get to know the app, how it works, and what the web interface looks like. Then we'll step outside and put it into practice with our individual devices. Please bring a smartphone or tablet with iNaturalist already installed.
